The girls are safe and well--and no longer currently available.
Sophie and Jewels are two standard poodles whose human mom suddenly passed away recently. They are in need of a home. The two have been buddies throughout their lives and would do better if they stayed together. That's what their mom wanted for them if it's possible. She was a lifelong poodle lover who had up to three poodles most of her adult life and all of the dogs lived long lives in her care. Sophie (foreground) is a cream color with brown on her back. She is about 9-1/2 years old and is about 55lbs. Unfortunately, within the last couple of months she tore her cruciate ligament and her mom and vet felt it was better not to operate on her knee. She gets around on three legs just fine and does put her fourth leg down frequently. It doesn't seem to have slowed her down much, but she likes to lie around soaking up pets so it's hard to tell. She had been used for breeding for money but is spayed and her mom rescued her about six years ago. The love she has to give is unending. Sophie enjoys bird and squirrel watching and is not above keeping her eye on the local chipmunk.
Her buddy is named Jewels (in back). She was also used for breeding, is spayed, and was rescued by her mom along with Sophie. She is a silver brown standard poodle, about 6-1/3 years old, and weighs about 52lbs. Also a lover, she is a little more playful commensurate with her age but not overly high energy. What a clown! They were integrated into a household where there was an established queen bee standard poodle and they all found their place just fine. This made their mom very happy because she was a very petite elderly woman with a heart condition who lived alone. She walked them every morning and had a fenced yard where the dogs were let out periodically during the day. All the "girls" and their mom had frequent visitors. They helped her entertain a ladies group once a week. Children also visited periodically and got along well with the dogs. The poodles love car rides, playing with their stuffed animals, sometimes rolling on their backs with their "babies" held aloft in two paws, and sometimes retrieving in a light game of toss. They think belly rubs are the best. These two are very smart but of course they would be because they are poodles! Mom insisted on positive-reinforcement training and taught these ladies to sit, stay, give a paw, sit up, lie down, and roll over. She loved them very much and would want a home for these two which was full of love, patience, and attention. They eat kibble put down in their separate bowls at morning and in the evening, supplemented by a Pet-Tab each day and a few other treats. They are used to a communal water dish with water changed at least twice a day. Mom got them excellent medical care and their immunizations are up to date. Their vet is willing to share information about these darlings. Sophie and Jewels are sad and miss their mom but have responded well to their babysitter. Do you know of someone with a lot of love to give these two mature honeys? They give so much unconditional love back and are a joy to have around. They have been through so much and deserve a forever home. You couldn't ask for better companions. Their adoption fees--$400 for Jewels (with $100 rebate after 4 classes) only, $300 for Sophie (with $100 rebate after 4 classes) only, and $600 for both (with $200 rebate after 8 classes)—are negotiable to the right home. Individual placement may be considered to the right home. |
